Heltah Skeltah is a hip hop duo consisting of members Rock (aka Da Rockness Monstah) and Ruck (aka Sean Price). The two are members of New York Hip Hop supergroup Boot Camp Clik, along with Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun and O.G.C..
Heltah Skeltah debuted on Smif-N-Wessun's album Dah Shinin' in 1995, appearing on the tracks "Wontime", "Cession at da Doghillee" and "Let's Git It On". Later in 1995, they grouped up with fellow Boot Camp members O.G.C. to form The Fab 5, and released a surprise hit single, "Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka". Out of The Fab 5 members, Rock and Ruck received the most amount of attention, due to their notable charisma and chemistry. The duo released their anticipated debut Nocturnal in June 1996, which included "Leflah", as well as the singles "Operation Lock Down" and "Therapy". The album sold over 250,000 copies in the United States, and has become a classic in the underground Hip Hop scene because of its grimy, basement sound and strong lyrics. The duo released a group album with the Boot Camp in 1997, then followed in 1998 with their sophomore effort Magnum Force. The album's lead single, "I Ain't Havin' That" (sampled from the A Tribe Called Quest track "Hot Sex"), became a Hot 100 hit. Despite the single's success, most critics slammed the album due to its lighter content. Ruck and Rock seemed disillusioned with their lack of sales, and split up soon after the Magnum Force album. Rock began having problems with Duck Down Records, and split with the label, signing to DJ Lethal's Lethal Records. He planned to release an album titled Planet Rock, but the label folded and the album disappeared. Sean Price stuck with the Camp for their sophomore group effort The Chosen Few in 2002. Heltah Skeltah reunited in 2005, making appearances on Sean Price's solo album Monkey Barz and Smif-N-Wessun's Tek N Steele: Reloaded. The duo continued work with the Boot Camp for their third group effort The Last Stand, released in July 2006. According to both members, they are also currently working on another Heltah Skeltah album, tentatively titled D.I.R.T., an acronym for Da Incredible Rap Team. Rock is also planning to release his solo debut, tentatively titled Monstah Music, sometime in 2007.

The Donots are a punk band from Germany, formed in 1993 in Ibbenbüren.
The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance.

La Coka Nostra (or short LCN) is an American hiphop supergroup, comprised mainly of all former members of House of Pain, one former member of Non Phixion and various other MCs and producers.
The groups's name is derived from the notorious criminal organization (La) Cosa Nostra, with the italian word Cosa (= "thing", "business") being replaced by the spanish word Coka which stands for Cocaine.
Although La Coka Nostra have yet to release a proper single, the mere posting of their songs on their myspace.com page music player helped generating a huge fan base, and becoming a minor internet phenomenon. The group's debut album is currently in production and is to be relased late 2006 or early 2007.

A Poet's Life is the first solo album by Tim Armstrong (Rancid, Transplants, Operation Ivy) which is being released as downloads through his own label, Hellcat Records. The first song was released on August 29, 2006, but the album page at Epitaph Records (Hellcat Records is a subsidiary of Epitaph), claims it has a February 6, 2007 release.

CunninLynguists is a southern hip hop duo composed of DJ Kno and rapper Deacon the Villain. Rapper Mr. SOS was once a part of the group, he has since departed from the group, although he maintains close ties. They replaced Mr. SOS with Natti on A Piece of Strange.
Although the group has attracted some attention among the mainstream hip hop community - Kno has been called "The best loop-miner east of the Mississippi" and "Today's best beat-maker" - the group hasn't achieved mainstream status. They are highly respected among their fans, however, for deep, personal lyrics, a generally uplifting message, and intoxicating beats.
The name CunninLynguists is a spoonerism of cunnilingus, the standard version of which is "cunning linguists".

Sabac Red was a member of the former hip-hop group Non Phixion with Ill Bill and now does solo work.Sabac Red was born John Fuentes in Guaynabo Puerto Rico along with his twin sister. His family moved to Brooklyn, NY when he was 4 years old.
Sabac released his debut solo album Sabacolypse "A Change Gon' Come" on the independent Psycho+ Logical- Records in June 2004. The album received great reviews and continues to sell units worldwide. In 2005 Sabac put out two powerful Mix CD's titled "Freestyle and Demos Vol. 1" and "Sabac Red Presents The Collabo Collection Vol. 1".
In 2005 Sabac moved to Oakland, California where he continues to lead workshops and train young people and adults.
Sabac is currently performing solo shows around the world as well as working on his next solo project, a CD/DVD Titled "The Ritual" due out 2007. He is also finishing up The Collabo Collection Vol. 2, which will be released right before "The Ritual". Sabac is planning a world tour for 2007 including places like Brazil, South Africa, South America and Australia.

Non Phixion (pronounced as non-fiction) was a hardcore hip-hop group formed in 1995 in Brooklyn, New York. It consisted of four emcees — Ill Bill, MC Serch, Sabac Red, and Goretex — plus DJ Eclipse.
The group was originally formed in 1995 by Ill Bill and MC Serch of 3rd Bass fame. They released their first single Legacy b/w No Tomorrow on Serch's own Serchlite Records that year. However, by late 1997, Serch and Non Phixion had parted ways. It was around this time that Bill started Uncle Howie Records and released Non Phixion's critically acclaimed "I Shot Reagan" single. The group featured unique subject matter such as government conspiracies, secret assassinations and alien cover-ups.
After previous record deals with Matador and Geffen records fell apart, they decided to work with Ill Bill's independent record label, Uncle Howie Records. On April 23, 2002, the group released their debut album The Future Is Now. On April 6, 2004 they released The Green CD/DVD, a compilation of rare songs and rare interview, concert, and behind-the-scenes footage.
In 2004 and 2005, all three emcees released diverse solo albums, all fully produced and released by Ill Bill's brother Necro on his label, Psycho+Logical-Records. Goretex's album was a horrorcore album featuring dark production by Necro, sampling death metal riffs and horror film scores. Ill Bill's album was along the lines of a traditional hardcore hip-hop album, while still maintaining the conspiracy themes native to Non Phixion. Sabac Red's album was a political album, focusing on current controversial issues such as the Iraq War.
A collaboration album between Necro and the whole of Non Phixion called Secret Society was originally scheduled for a January 2006 release date, but has endured numerous delays. The current release date is unknown. An album between Necro and Ill Bill entitled Blood Brothers is also planned for some time in 2006. The group planned to release their sophomore album, Nuclear Truth, in 2006, but this release has been officially canceled.
Non Phixion disbanded in July 2006. Officially, the group is said to have broken up because of Goretex's "unreliability" and "lack of interest". Ill Bill (Now a member of the recently formed La Coka Nostra), Sabac, and DJ Eclipse have all gone their separate ways solo, with plans to release The Hour of Reprisal (Uncle Howie/Perfect Game/Warner Music Group), The Ritual (Uncle Howie), and the Halftime Show DVD (Uncle Howie) in 2007, respectively. Goretex has severed ties with the group. His future plans are unknown.

Corporate Avenger

Corporate Avenger is a band from Southern California. The style of their music has varied over time, ranging from techno to rap to metal. With each change, the subject matter has always remained the same: political matter, knowledge, and spirituality.
The idea for the band Corporate Avenger was born some time between 1995 and 1996 when Spike and Brad Xavier were on tour in the band Humble Gods. Years later, Spike met with Marco of 1605 Studio in Hunington Beach, California and recorded some songs. In 1999 these songs were released on Suburban Noize records as the 'Taxes are Stealing' EP. This EP featured the first song ever recorded by the group, 'Evolve', a song questioning the origins of the native peoples of the Americas.
Judging by the cover of the 'Taxes are Stealing' EP, at this time the band consisted of eight members, including Pakelika of The Kottonmouth Kings. During this phase of the bands' history, the group had an ever-changing line up and no two shows would be alike. Some times the band would show up to a location unannounced, play a few songs, and then leave.
In 2000 the group released another CD titled 'The New Testament'. This CD featured new songs as well as three songs from the previous EP. It also featured a new line up including the first appearance of vocalist Adawee the Wind. The sound on 'The New Testament', while still electronic in nature, is much more aggressive and not only pushes the band's views further but also pushes the envelope with songs such as 'The Bible is Bullshit', 'Jesus Christ Homosexual', and 'Enemy of the Gospel'. The CD was seen as a way to bridge the gap between the previous EP and the full length album they were working on at the time.
In July of 2001, the band finally released its first full length album, 'Freedom is a State of Mind', released on Suburban Noize Records via Koch Entertainment. The new album had songs from both previous releases, including a few remixes of some of the oldest songs, and several new songs that again evolved the bands sound and message. Songs like 'Christians Murdered Indians', 'FBI File', and 'Voting Doesn't Work' had a hard, aggressive rap sound with Adawee providing sung vocals (a stark change of pace from Spike's angry spoken word vocals).
2005 saw the release of 'Born Again', Corporate Avenger's newest CD and newest line up. Spike and Adawee were still the core of the band, but this time around the music had taken on a more metal sound with songs like 'Jihad Schmihad' and 'Gay Muslims for Christ'. This album was not put out through Suburban Noize Records but rather through Massive Sound Records and sold via Merch.com, a first for the group. 'Born Again' also saw the departure of The Taxman, who claimed to leave the band to work on a solo record.

Slaine was born into an Irish American family in the working class Dorchester section of Boston and spent his youth as somewhat of a gypsy bouncing from place to place around Boston. His intensity and penchant for always being the new kid around the block made him quick to make friends and enemies, while at the same time remaining a loner by nature. Always being somewhat of an outsider, hip-hop seemed like a natural fit for him, even if it didn't always for others. "I always was an outsider and a walking contradiction wherever I went anyways, so when I got a sour response from people at times, it kind of just fed my fire."

For the last decade Potluck has built a well-deserved reputation as the premiere rap group in Humboldt County and one of the more promising young talents to emerge from Northern California’s legendary and organic independent hip-hop scene.
Combining an ‘average joe’ sensibility along with syrupy west coast beats, clever samples, and witty rhymes – Potluck’s weed inspired song topics include everything from life and love’s tribulations to neck-snapping battle raps.
Back in 1995, 1 Ton, who originally hails from San Diego, and UnderRated, who was born and raised in Humboldt, met at a dj trial. “We were the two tightest djs there, so it was natural we hooked up,” remembers UnderRated about the first encounter.
Despite the fact that they were from different backgrounds—1 Ton is African-American and UnderRated is Jewish—the two formed a musical chemistry as Emcees, Producers, and Dj’s which translated into some of the best club and house parties Humboldt had ever seen.
In 2000, the group released their debut album Humboldt County High. They distributed the record themselves up and down the West Coast through a label they formed, called Lost Koast Productions.
“In Humboldt, we became so popular, we were selling more albums than Britney Spears,” smiles 1-Ton, about the group’s early days. Songs like the weed inspired “Humboldt County High” and the more serious “What’s Your Purpose” catapulted Potluck into the mix of up and coming West Coast rappers.

Currently Lost Koast Productions and Suburban Noize Records have teamed up to bring you Potluck “Straight Outta Humboldt” which is primed to go down as a marijuana lovers classic. It has apperences from Kottonmouth Kings, The Luniz(I got 5 on it), Tech N9ne, and a host of others. It is scheduled for release Summer of 2006.
To date Potluck has toured the U.S. and performed with the likes of Too Short, E-40, Atmosphere, Tech N9ne, Lloyd Banks, Living Legends, Bone Thugs, J5, Andre Nickatina, Blackalicous, and Kottonmouth Kings.

Dead Celebrity Status is a Canadian hip-hop band. Rappers Yas Taalat and Bobby McIntosh formed a precursor group, Project Wyze, in 1988 as young teens. The duo later collaborated with a group of punk rock musicians and became best known as a rap-metal band, but hip hop remained Yas and Bobby's first love.
With the addition of DJ Dopey, the group reformed itself as Dead Celebrity Status after Project Wyze broke up. They have shared the stage with acts such as Public Enemy and Ozzy Osbourne. DCS released their first album, Blood Music, in 2004.
Their singles have included "We Fall, We Fall" and "Somebody Turn the Lights Off". Their track "Messiah" appeared on the soundtrack to the 2005 film XXX: State of the Union.
Their first album contained many guest artists including, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, Twiggy Ramirez, Joss Stone, Bif Naked, & DJ Lethal.

Looptroop is a Swedish rap group. Although from Sweden, Looptroop raps primarily in English and has gained some popularity in the United States underground hip-hop subculture.
Formed in 1993, Looptroop then consisted of Cosmic, Promoe, and DJ Embee. The three had met in school, and DJ Embee and Promoe had been recording since 1991. Their first album as Looptroop, Superstars, was released in 1993. Between Superstars and their second album, Threesicksteez, DJ Embee did a one year solo tour in the US. Threesicksteez was released in 1995, and featured a fourth member, Supreme, on a couple of tracks. Supreme became a full member of Looptroop the following year with the album From the Wax-Cabinet.
Between 1996 and their next full-length release in 2000, Looptroop recorded a number of EPs on their own record label, David vs. Goliath. By doing this, they were the first Swedish rap group to independently record and produce their own albums. In addition, during this time they did shows and recorded with major underground acts from the US such as Arsonists, Non Phixion and Xzibit.
Modern Day City Symphony (2000) was a groundbreaking album for Swedish hip hop acclaimed by both fans and critics. The most famous song from that album is Long Arm of the Law which is critical of the swedish police and law-system. Their most recent album, Fort Europa (2005) has even got a song on the fast-driving game Need For Speed.
Looptroop was previously sponsored by Swedish clothing brand WESC with clothes, but after Promoe was interviewed about it in a Swedish radio show critical towards WESC they stopped wearing the clothes.
Many of their songs contains controversial lyrics and Jag sköt Palme (I Shot Palme, about the murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, a cover of Non Phixion's I Shot Reagan) and Ring Snuten (Call the Cops, which recalls a brutal police-murder) has been pressed charged while played on swedish radio.
Both Promoe and Embee have released their own solo albums and Cosmic has together with Embee dropped EPs as The Casual Brothers.

Started by the Jedi Mind Tricks in the late nineties, the original Army of the Pharaohs line-up included five MCs: Vinnie Paz, Chief Kamachi, Esoteric, Virtuoso and Bahamadia. This version of the group released The 5 Perfect Exertions EP before disbanding. Around 2005 Paz brought back Esoteric and Kamachi, as well as many new members to put out an LP which would end up being The Torture Papers, released in March 2006. From the beginning Paz had envisioned the group as a loose collaboration between the biggest names in east-coast underground hip-hop, very similar to the original Wu-Tang Clan.Most of the production on The Torture Papers was provided by 7L and his associates, and rising German underground beat-maker Shuko. Of note is Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind, the Jedi Mind Tricks producer, being completely absent from the album.There is also a bootleg continuation of The Torture Papers circulating around the internet called The Bonus Papers, which is composed entirely of tracks not released on the album. It is thought some songs didn't fit the artistic design of the album while others were known to have been extremely political and maybe were held back to reduce controversy.

Apathy (born March 8th, 1979) the self-proclaimed “King of Connecticut” (and formerly the Alien Tongue), is an underground rapper currently signed to Atlantic Records. He is a re-founding member and unofficial leader of the Demigodz crew. He’s also a member of the Jedi Mind Tricks super-group; Army of the Pharaohs and the Connecticut crew Doe$Rakers. His DJ is Chum the Skrilla Guerilla and he frequently collaborates with fellow Demigod Celph Titled. He is also part of the growing number of caucasian emcees. Apathy is a highly skilled and versatile lyricist able to spit mind-bending verses on nearly any topic from girls, to battling, to chess. He is also known for his freestyle ability which is often the highlight of his live performances.
He released his debut album, Eastern Philosophy, in March 2006 on Babygrande Records. Most of his previous underground work has been collected on two albums: the mammoth, two-disc It's the Bootleg Muthafuckas and the appropriately titled Where's Your Album?. The Bearer of Bad News, his album for Atlantic, is currently in limbo.

Outerspace

Outerspace is the brainchild of Philadelphia MC's Planetary and Crypt the Warchild. The philosophy of Outerspace runs much deeper than music; it's literally a family. The two founding members have been friends almost since birth and found a common bond in the music they grew up on such as Gangstarr and EPMD.
The Outerspace vision began to take shape in the early 90's as the duo worked tirelessly to hone the skills that would eventually lead to an alliance with fellow Illadelphians Jedi Mind Tricks and their home-grown label Superegular Recordings. In 1998, Superegular released their debut single We Lyve which was met with critical praise for its complex, scientific rhymes and ethereal, seemingly other-worldly beats.
Outerspace would go on to appear on several JMT tracks and in 1999 the Illegaliens EP was released in on the Wordsound label. Soon thereafter, Outerspace hooked up with DJ SAT ONE and began recording with Jazzy Jeff's production company A Touch of Jazz, This colloaboration proved fruitful with the release of the SAT ONE produced Danger Zone 12' on Soulspazm Records.

Transplants

Transplants are an American punk rock/hip hop band. They formed in 1999 when Tim Armstrong of the band Rancid played his friend and roadie Rob Aston some beats he had made using Pro Tools and asked Rob if he would consider contributing lyrics. Initially, Tim played all the instruments himself but as the project grew, he invited musician friends such as Matt Freeman (Rancid), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), Craig Fairbaugh, and Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers) to add to the sound. Before long, Tim and Rob decided to officially form a band, but to make things complete, they wanted a drummer, so Travis Barker from blink-182 was asked to join in 2002.
Tim first became inspired to work with loops and samples after being introduced to London's speed/garage scene by Kerrang! magazine writer Mörat in the mid-90s.
The group's music is a combination of hip hop, reggae, drum n bass, dub, and punk, but not necessarily all at once. Although many are used sparingly throughout the album, punk and rap remain as the prominent styles. Lyrically, Rob Aston describes their songs as ranging from topics such as murder ("Quick Death") to the passing of a loved one ("Sad But True") to failed friendships ("We Trusted You").

Lordz Of Brooklyn is a crossover hip hop/rock band comprised of childhood friends of Irish American descent and two Italian-Americans from Brooklyn, New York. Their first album, titled All In The Family, released in 1995, was more or less a pure hip hop effort. The follow-up, Graffiti Roc, which was rather a compilation of various previously recorded tracks than a proper studio album, followed in 2003. On this record the groups' style leaned towards a crossover sound of both hip hop and rock influences.
Their cover of the song "Lake of Fire" was the ending credits music for the videogame Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven.
In 2006 the group shortened their name to The Lordz for the release of the third album The Brooklyn Way, this time a pure rock album with very few, if any, hip hop references.
Throughout their career, the band has worked with several artists, including Everlast, Freddie Foxxx (aka Bumpy Knuckles), Busta Rhymes, KoRn, Shanti and many others.

Gym Class Heroes

The Gym Class Heroes were formed in late 1997 by four high school students. Their first record, For the Kids, was released in 2002. After this release, lead singer Travis McCoy won MTV's Direct Effect MC Battle and as a prize, he appeared in Styles P's video "Daddy Get That Cash". After hearing the song "Taxi Driver", (which pays homage to various rock artists), Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy became interested in the Gym Class Heroes and invited the band to one of his shows. Travis met with Wentz on June 10th 1994 in Buffalo and struck up a rapport. The Gym Class Heroes then went on to join Wentz's label, Decaydance Records, which is an imprint of Fueled By Ramen. Travis later said that Wentz's support, coupled with the label's touring ethos and family atmosphere, is what drew him to Decaydance/Fuled By Ramen. As of October 31st 2006, the Gym Class Heroes are touring with The All-American Rejects.
